This original painting was painted for a high school friend who was battling cancer a few years ago. I wanted her to be able to read it each day.  I hoped that it would help her be hopeful and optimistic during her horrific treatment.

It also makes me think of other friends and family who have had to face this devastating disease. No matter the outcome, they have been brave and hopeful in their fight. Brad lost his mom almost ten years before I met him. I never got to thank her for raising such an amazing son.

I’ve realized that everyone has something really hard they will have to face. All of our trials will look different, but they will all have things in common. They will all be painful. But they will also all have the power to transform us into kinder, more empathetic people. They will show us what really matters.

To me, this painting can be for anyone who needs a little reminder that everything they need to rely on, and remember is already inside them.
